MS is all about peparation

MS Awareness Month is about perspective. For me, it is about the preparation this disease forced into my life.

People often ask how I keep going through the grind. The truth is that Multiple Sclerosis is a masterclass in preparing for things most people cannot fathom.

1. It prepared me for Heaven.

When you spend years living in a physical hell, you do not just hope for eternity. You look forward to it with a ferocity that is hard to explain. A body that functions is the ultimate North Star.

2. It prepared me for Hell.

My skin is constantly on fire. There are no external scars, but the heat is there every day. If I can navigate that now, how big of a deal can eternity be? If anything, the fire would be more predictable.

3. It prepared me for Uncertainty.

When you wake up every day wondering if today is the day your body gives out, you develop a baseline for chaos. The level of uncertainty I expect is what most people’s nightmares are made of.

4. It prepared me for Invisibility.

Brain fog makes you think twice before opening your mouth. It teaches you that true power comes from listening and learning more than talking. You learn to make every word count.

5. It prepared me for the Grind.

The professional world talks about resilience, but MS is the quietest form of it. Every day involves showing up, performing, and leading while your nerves misfire. We rise and get through it without anyone being the wiser.

MS is unpredictable, exhausting, and invisible.

But it is also the reason my easy days at the office would cripple most of you.

If you are fighting a battle no one can see today: I see you. Keep grinding.
